Pedi Bay

Located in the next valley just east of Symi's main harbor Gialos, Pedi Bay is one of the island's safest natural harbors. For yacht charter guests, it offers a peaceful anchoring point away from the crowds of the main port, featuring crystal-clear shallow waters and nearby small beaches like Agios Nikolaos and Agia Marina. On blue cruise itineraries, it is a tranquil stop known for its wind-sheltered structure and traditional houses lining the shore. In this charming fishing village, you can crown your day with fresh daily seafood and the famous Symi shrimp at the local seaside konobas.

Logistics & Technical

Pedi is a highly sheltered bay located on the eastern coast of Symi island, just a short distance behind the main harbor of Gialos. The entrance is wide and safe for all types of vessels. As you approach the head of the bay, the depth decreases gradually, and the seabed is mostly a mix of sand and seagrass, providing excellent holding for an anchor. Yachts typically anchor in the middle of the bay or moor stern-to near the small fishing pier. It is widely considered one of the best refuges on the island during strong northerly Meltemi winds.

Social life revolves around peaceful village routines; children swimming at the shore and sailors enjoying their morning coffee. Evenings are remarkably quiet, with the reflection of the stars on the still water creating a magical atmosphere.

Captain's Note

“
"If you find the main harbor of Symi too crowded or difficult for anchoring, Pedi is your best alternative. The gentle breeze blowing down from the valley at night ensures a very comfortable sleep at anchor."
