Panormitis

Situated in a deep, horseshoe-shaped bay at the southern tip of Symi, Panormitis is famous for the majestic 18th-century Monastery of Archangel Michael. For yacht charter guests, it serves as both a safe haven and one of the Aegean's most important spiritual centers. On blue cruise itineraries, it is a significant stop where sailors pay respects to the patron saint of the sea, admired for its impressive bell tower. You can experience the tranquility of the monastery courtyard, visit its museums, and crown your day with fresh traditional bread from the local bakery on the shore.

Logistics & Technical

Panormitis is a large, natural bay located on the southern tip of Symi island. It is nearly completely enclosed, making it one of the safest natural harbors in the Dodecanese, offering absolute protection from all wind directions. The entrance is wide and straightforward. While the small concrete pier is often reserved for ferries and excursion boats, yachts find excellent anchorage in the expansive bay. The holding is superb on a sandy and muddy bottom. It is a "mill-pond" environment, perfect for a stress-free overnight stay.

Social life consists of quiet dinners by the water or enjoying a glass of wine on deck in total serenity, accompanied by the distant sound of monastery bells.
