Nanou Bay

Located on the eastern coast of Symi, surrounded by steep cliffs and pine trees, Nanou Bay boasts one of the island's largest and most magnificent beaches. For yacht charter guests, it is a perfect anchoring point with its crystal-clear, deep waters under the shadow of high hills. On blue cruise itineraries, it is a favorite for nature enthusiasts due to its large white pebbles and unique turquoise water. Accessible only by sea, this tranquil bay allows you to crown your day with fresh seafood and the famous Symi shrimps at the small family-run taverna on the shore.

Logistics & Technical

Nanou is a wide and deep bay located on the eastern coast of Symi, flanked by steep cliffs. The seabed is a mix of pebbles and rocks, so ensuring your anchor is well-set is crucial. Most yachts prefer to anchor in 10-15 meters and take a line to the shore for maximum stability. The bay offers excellent protection from westerly winds but is exposed to easterly and southerly breezes, which can bring in a swell. The water is exceptionally clear, allowing you to see the seabed even at significant depths.

Gastronomy & Social Life

Social life in Nanou is defined by simplicity. There is a single taverna on the beach serving fresh seafood and traditional Symi specialties (don't miss the famous Symi shrimps). This is not a place for glitz but for peaceful seclusion. After the day-trippers leave in the afternoon, the bay remains quiet, shared only by staying yachts and the local wild goats.

Personal Insight

Captain's Note

โ€œ
"Once in Nanou, stop the engine and just listen to the silence. At night, itโ€™s one of the few places where stars feel so close to the sea. Watch out for submerged rocks near the shore when taking lines."
