Meganissi is one of the safest and most popular yachting destinations in the Ionian Sea. Its northern coastline is cut by deep, fjord-like bays; the primary nautical bases are Abelike Bay, Kapali Bay, and the harbor of Vathy (Porto Spilia), which features modern marina facilities. In Abelike and Kapali bays, the standard technique is to drop anchor and take a long line to the shore (usually around the olive trees); the seabed is mud and sand, providing flawless holding. The island offers superb shelter from the prevailing westerly Maistros winds. Navigational challenges are minimal, as the bays are deep and free of hidden reefs.

Since there are no facilities inside the remote bays, full provisioning should be done in Vathy or nearby Nidri (Lefkada) before anchoring.
