Technically, it stands as one of the safest anchorages in the Ionian Sea, remaining as calm as a lake against the prevailing northwesterly Maistros winds. The seabed is brilliant white sand, offering flawless holding. The standard practice is to drop anchor in the middle of the bay in $3-6$ meters of water and take long lines to the shore or olive trees. While the entrance seems wide, navigators must be extremely cautious of the shallow sandbars and reefs at the entry channel; always monitor the depth sounder.
