Logistics & Technical

The primary port of Patmos, Skala, is situated within a deep and well-protected bay. It offers excellent shelter, particularly from the northerly Meltemi winds. Yachts usually moor stern-to at the municipal quay, which is equipped with lazy lines; however, finding a spot during the peak season can be challenging. The holding inside the bay is reliable on a sandy bottom. Around the island, bays like Grikos, Psili Ammos, and Livadi Geranou offer magnificent anchorage options depending on the wind direction. Grikos Bay is particularly favored for overnight stays due to its calm waters.

Gastronomy & Social Life

Patmos cuisine blends traditional Aegean flavors with a sophisticated touch. The fish tavernas in Skala are renowned for fresh seafood, but the island's true culinary gems are hidden in the squares of Chora (the hilltop village). Dining in the shadow of centuries-old mansions, enjoying the local "Patmos Cheese Pie" (Tiropita) and lobster pasta, is a privileged experience. Social life is intellectual, understated, and chic, far removed from the noisy clubbing scenes of other islands.

Personal Insight

Captain's Note

“
"Approaching Patmos from the sea and seeing the massive monastery at the top makes you feel like you are sailing towards a medieval citadel. Watching the sunset over the Aegean from the Chora fortress is the only way to truly grasp the island's spirit."
