Pabucburnu

Pabuçburnu is a spacious and deep bay located on the southern coast of the Bodrum Peninsula, directly across from Karaada Island. It serves as an ideal first or last stop for sailors starting or ending their Blue Cruise from Bodrum. The seabed is primarily sandy, offering excellent and reliable holding for anchors. Most yachts prefer to anchor in depths between 5 and 10 meters. The bay provides good shelter from northerly and westerly winds but is exposed to southerly (Lodos) winds, which can bring uncomfortable swells. Watch out for shallow rocks near certain parts of the shoreline when approaching.

There are no settlements, shops, or restaurants in Pabuçburnu. Social life is centered entirely on the privacy of your own yacht and the serenity of nature. It offers a perfect "detox" for those looking to escape the vibrant Bodrum nightlife. Dinner is typically served on deck under the stars, with the distant, sparkling lights of Bodrum providing a beautiful backdrop.

The main highlight is snorkeling in the brilliantly turquoise waters. The clarity of the sea is perfect for observing underwater rock formations and various fish species. For those who enjoy light hiking, the paths leading up the hills offer panoramic views of the Gulf of Gökova and Karaada. The calm, glass-like water in the mornings is ideal for kayaking or Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP).

The landscape is dominated by Mediterranean maquis and scrubby pine trees. The nature here is wild and untouched, providing a stark and beautiful contrast to the nearby bustling town of Bodrum. Finding such pristine blue water so close to the marina makes Pabuçburnu a staple of the Turkish cruising circuit.

There are no facilities for water, electricity, or provisions in the bay. Since it is only about 5-6 miles from Bodrum harbor, sailors should be fully stocked before arrival. Its vast area and calm nature make it a very safe and enjoyable stop for families with children who love swimming straight from the boat.
