The island offers numerous sheltered inlets along its northwestern coast, with bathymetry typically ranging from 5 to 15 meters. The seabed is predominantly sand and poseidonia, providing excellent holding. While the "False Strait" (Yalancı Boğaz) restricts southern passage for deep-draft vessels, the bay remains a "flat water" haven even during intense Meltemi conditions due to the high elevation of the island's ridge.
